The Root of the Matter is a vital quest given by Celeste in Arc Raiders, requiring players to venture into dangerous territory to recover essential resources. Taking place in the Buried City map, this assignment challenges raiders to navigate hostile environments while hunting down a specific seed vault. Completing the mission rewards players with high-grade crafting components that significantly improve late-game equipment crafting.
Reaching the Research Building in Buried City
To begin the mission, head toward the central portion of the Buried City map where the Research Building is located right next to Marano Park. Approaching this site requires extreme caution because both hostile ARC patrols and rival raiders frequently contest the surrounding area. Entering from the southern approach or through side windows facing away from the main courtyard offers a much safer entry route.
Finding the Room with a Great View
Once inside the lower levels of the Research Building, navigate toward the west side facing the open park plaza. Look for a laboratory room featuring large windows that overlook the entire outdoor courtyard area. Inside this room, you will locate a bright yellow cylindrical container positioned along the wall, which serves as the seed vault.
Securing the Seeds and Handing in the Quest
Interact with the vault container to release the Experimental Seed Sample onto the floor. Pick up the item immediately and place it inside your safe pocket so it remains secure even if you fail to extract alive. After securing the sample, head to the nearest extraction point or complete the run, then return to Celeste to claim your rewards.
